I am sure many of my followers have seen this photo on their own dashboard. I reblogged the photo with my own comment, but for this, I didn’t want the original tumblr post to receive any more notes (Over 85,000).
Let me just be blunt. If you think this photo is an act of bullying, you are WRONG. That boy in the photo is the younger BROTHER of another guy on the team.
With the help of media coverage, acts of bullying are seen more and more in the public eye to the point of where it’s obviously a problem. This is good because it makes bullying into a serious issue. More and more people are taking a stand to bullying. The problem, however, is when photos like this get released and then a whole shitstorm happens.
I get so irritated when tumblr users will just read one story online and reblog it, not looking at any other sources, adding phrases such as “disgusting,” and “Let’s make this fucker famous”. Really what you all are doing is ruining a bunch of kids’ lives who didn’t do anything wrong.
I have two news sources explaining the photo. The school district is well aware of the photo and have no reason to take any disciplinary action.

If you don’t believe me yet, fyeridan, who originally posted the picture on tumblr which went viral, made this statement:
Okay. I really need to get this out quick. So um last night I posted a picture and text that I found of alleged bullying. It got blown way out of proportion and as it turns out, it seems that this incident was in fact, not an act of bullying. In this article here , it explains they were just goofing around. I cannot express how sorry I am about all of this, and did not intend people to necessarily get this riled up about it. Especially now that I have learned the truth. And I hope that none of this gets any of the kids in the photo a bad reputation and I hope it does not affect them negatively. That’s why I really ask for everyone to reblog this that reblogged or saw the other post to get this out there. I regret posting that picture, and I am sorry.
What irks me is that you all get so overwhelmed in this idea to fight bullying that you don’t look at any of the facts and will send this guys and his friends horrible messages.
Wyatt, one of the wrestlers has been receiving death threats not only to him, but his family. HOW IS THIS FUCKING FIGHTING BULLYING? Do you guys even get that this IS bullying? Wyatt recently made this tweet:
If youre gonna send me death threats on something not true direct them at me. Dont bring my family into this. They had nothing to do with it
He also said:
“This is probably one of the scariest times of my life. I really appreciate everyone that is supporting me and [Twitter name] though”
I am so sick of this online vigilantly thing everyone is doing. You are not helping by sending these kids messages. And the death threats? In what fucking world do you get to make the judgement calls like that? And based off of only ONE photo too! Many of the comments that I have seen directed towards these guys has to do with them being athletes and how athletes are treated as first call citizens and never get in trouble. Now I am going to call out your fucking bias. Athletes are people too with real emotions (just like you guys). Yes athletes have committed crimes and have bullied, but so have people who aren’t athletes.
Here are just a bunch of other statements that have been said to these guys:
“How the fuck could you even do what you did, you sick twisted fuck. I hope you burn in hell for what you did.”
“It’s disgusting how atheletes words and actions are valued more then anyone else’s.”
“Sick of disgusting pig jocks like [twitter name] who think the humiliation they put other people through for the sake of “fun” is acceptable.”
Now, I’m asking that everyone who reads this stops reblogging that photo. Sending death threats or angry messages does not help stop bullying. It reinforces it.
